The Message Bible
By Eugene H. Peterson – This is my compass. Please read whatever translation you love best, but this one by Eugene Peterson helps me hear the voice of God so clearly in today’s language that even I can’t mess it up. It comes with me everywhere and stays near my NIV translation.
Opening Doors Within
By Eileen Caddy – A friend turned me onto this tiny blue book packed with universe-sized words, and it became God’s voice every day during my divorce. May it bring you the same peace, strength, courage and hope it gave me. Years later, it is still my every day read. God meets me exactly where I am today and every day. He will do the same for you.
Atomic Habits
By James Clear – I found this book two years ago and WOW… It led to my teaching on the impact of Daily Gratitudes and tiny habits that can change your world.
The One Thing
By Gary W. Keller and James Papasan – What’s the One Thing I can do today such that by doing it makes everything else easier? I ask God that question every morning, and I hope you will, too. While this book isn’t Christian based… it’s just plain out brilliant.
Flying Solo
By Denise Hildreth Jones – I found this book by accident, and I’ve sent it to countless people going through divorce. If you’ve ever done a study with Denise, you’ll know that no one delivers raw and real with God quite like her. She walked her divorce with God in the same exact way. I walked mine right with her while reading it.
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
By Marie Kondo – Oh, my tidy Asian friend, how you changed the way I see the things and people around me. May we all bring and keep only joy around us.
The Unexpected Legacy of Divorce
By Judith S. Wallerstein, Julia M. Lewis and Sandra Blakeslee – This 25 year landmark study on the real effects of divorce on children into adulthood keeps me propelled to change the way divorce is experienced today for not only women, but the children of divorce who become women and men.
